Cera Finney – Administrative Assistant

Operatic mezzo-soprano Cera Finney has been acclaimed by CVNC and SC Times as having a “mature, lustrous voice” while maintaining a “light, flexible sound” in her performances throughout the United States.  She completed her Bachelor’s in Music from East Carolina University and her Master’s in Opera Theatre at the University of South Carolina, studying under nationally renowned theatre director Ellen Schlaefer. 

Cera has shined in roles such as Jezibaba in Rusalka, Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus, and Dorabella in Così fan tutte. Since beginning her professional career, she has been seen on the stage nationally at FBN Productions and Opera Wilmington, and as an internationally featured artist with Oberlin in Italy and Opera VIVAce in Canada. Cera has won competitions around the country, including 1st place in NC NATS College Division and the Da Capo award from the National Orpheus Competition. She is also a prize holder from the Metropolitan Opera South Carolina District.

Outside of performance, Cera has ample administration background and worked in Music Licensing and Copyright, where she managed databases of thousands of musicians and helped negotiate contracts with companies such as Sony Music, Universal, and Warner Bros. 

Cera has been teaching voice and piano since 2013, with a focus on healthy, solid fundamentals and making vocology fun for the young artist. She emboldens her students to think outside of the “music box” and pursues innovative, fun ways to learn. Her students have participated in MMTA Exams, NC and SC Governor’s School, and have been accepted into college music programs in Music Education and Music Therapy around the country.
