Angela Bergquist

Angie is a Minnesota native and started her own music studies at the age of 7. Piano soon became her favorite activity. Practicing was fun! She studied at the University of Northwestern, St. Paul with Janet Gustafson Linton. After getting her B.A. in Music she took private lessons from Dr. Richard Lange and continued on to get her Masters degree at Oklahoma City University where she studied under Robert Laughlin. While getting her degree at OCU she was on staff as Adjunct Faculty teaching music major students to pass their piano proficiency skills. She also was the church pianist for Disciples of Christ church locally in Oklahoma.

She moved back to Minnesota after getting her M.M. degree and has been teaching privately. She has 32 years teaching experience now with private piano lessons. She is a member of MMTA and MMTF. She has had several MMTA contest winners over the years and students taking Theory exams and piano exams. She was the Theory Program Site administrator at Normandale and the Theory Program coordinator while updating the new theory program and workbooks.

Angie enjoys teaching piano and watching the students evolve through the years and where it takes them. She likes to teach a well-rounded approach to piano involving theory, technique, and performing. She likes to teach with a growth mindset and find ways to develop that grit in each student. We are always learning something new.
