Carter Hallums
Operatic baritone Carter Hallums holds both undergraduate and graduate degrees in vocal performance from Tennessee Technological University and Austin Peay State University, where he studied under Dr. Jeffrey Williams and Dr. Christopher Reames. He was awarded a full scholarship to train at the Austrian American Mozart Academy in Salzburg, Austria. Among his most recent roles are Papageno in Die Zauberflöte and Publio in Mozart’s La Clemenza di Tito.
Hallums has earned numerous accolades, including First Place at both the Tennessee NATS Competition and the Mid-South Regional NATS Competition, as well as being named a National Semi-finalist in the NATS National Student Auditions in the Upper Advanced Classical TBB category. His vocal talents have taken him to both national and international stages, where he has performed a diverse range of operatic and musical theater repertoire.
Beyond performance, Hallums has dedicated several years to teaching private voice lessons, guiding students to realize their full vocal potential. He also served as an instructor of record at Austin Peay State University, where he has shared his expertise with aspiring vocalists, helping to shape the next generation of musicians. Mr. Hallums is adamantly committed to continually refine his own pedagogical methods and knowledge, remaining open to new ideas, and nurturing a sense of lifelong learning through his students.
