Julia Bae

Julia (Yesol) Bae began playing the violin at the age of 8, and after just two years, she won first prize in a competition. At age 13, she debuted at Kumho Art Hall as a soloist after winning another competition.

Driven by a sincere passion for music, Julia pursued higher education in her homeland of South Korea, earning a master’s degree under the guidance of Professor Kwang-Kun Kim. Subsequently, she ventured to the United States to further her musical education.

After graduating from Boston Conservatory with a second master’s degree, she is currently working on her doctoral degree at the University of Minnesota studying with Stephanie Arado under Harvey Berneking Scholarship. Ms. Bae joined the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra as a violinist after a successful audition in 2023 and has been performing with them. More recently, in 2024, she won the audition for the Sioux City Symphony Orchestra.

Besides her involvement in professional orchestras, she has a strong passion for teaching. She taught students ranging from ages 6 to 59 in public elementary and middle schools, as well as violin institutes in Korea. As an experienced violin teacher, she understands that every student has their own learning pace. By providing them with a suitable method, she aims to make her students enjoy playing the violin while developing proper techniques.
