Junko Durant
Junko Durant is a classically trained pianist with a passion for teaching.
Junko has been teaching piano since 2008. She enjoys working with students of all ages and abilities. Through her teaching experiences, she found that everyone is unique and has their own learning style and their own pace, so she strives to make her lessons student-centered. She helps students develop the fundamentals of piano skills and at the same time brings them the joy of music.
Besides teaching, Junko is also passionate about collaboration with others. She has performed with several Wind Ensembles and Orchestras such as the Encore Wind Ensemble and the Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra. Currently, Junko serves as an accompanist at Minnesota State University, Mankato.
While an undergraduate, Junko received an outstanding music student award. She was chosen to perform as a soloist with the St. Cloud State University Wind Ensemble. The performance was featured on television and she also toured with them. In her senior year, she won the aria and concerto competition and she has performed as a soloist with the St. Cloud State University Orchestra.
Junko holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from St. Cloud State University, studying under Dr. Carmen Wilhite, and a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance from Minnesota State University, Mankato under the guidance of Dr. David Viscoli.
Junko is excited to share music with all her students and it is an honor to be a part of their music journey.
