Nathan Geurkink

Nathan has been studying the cello since the age of five. Coming from Boston, MA, he studied for many years with Andrew Mark. He attended Boston University and Arizona State University studying with Michael Reynolds and Thomas Landschoot and earned bachelor and master of music degrees in cello performance respectively.

Nathan has extensive performance experience including symphony orchestra, opera, pit orchestra, and chamber and solo recitals. He has performed in over a dozen different countries and is looking to continue performing in the Twin Cities.
In addition to the cello, Nathan also took private piano lessons for 10 years and uses those skills to aid his students during lessons whenever helpful. He enjoys accompanying students on piano for recitals and is especially passionate about helping students with performance anxiety.

Nathan recognizes that every student comes from a unique background with possibly different expectations and should be catered to individually. He passionately believes that it is not only important for the instructor to see the path for growth but that the student can see it as well.

Although he specializes in cello, Nathan is also adept at teaching beginners violin and viola. Outside of music, he loves watching television series and films, playing trading card games with friends, and collecting pins.
